We really like the irons themselves but they shud be ashamed to send a solid iron out with an absolute flimsy wire to hold it shut.

Usually when I buy something with the goal of reclaiming a feeling from my childhood or sharing that childhood experience with my own childhood, I’m mildly disappointed. Either the product has changed enough that it can never be the same experience, or else our tastes have migrated enough over the years that the experience doesn’t land the same, and we would have been better off with with the memories ex the attempt to relive them.

Not true with these pie irons. I think they are better quality that what I remember using in the early 80s, my daughter loved “camping” in our screened-in sunroom and making grilled meat and cheese sandwiches over the fire in these, followed by white bread and canned, commercial pie filling pies. Even my annoyingly picky teen son ate the entire sandwich.

Yes, I bake fancy pies for the holiday and could have made a more complex, impressive pie filling. Yes,
I often make homemade bread and could have used that. But nothing will take you back like garbage, processed white “bread” and canned pie filling that has as much corn syrup as fruit. If you have health concerns about that, bear in mind it’s a dessert. If food coloring and additives concern you, may I suggest a Big Ag, parasite-ridden salad instead?

Don’t aspire to over-the-top influencer variations on the original. Get the cheapest loaf of bread you can find, some store-brand meat, cheese, and canned pie filling, and snag a few neighbors for a Throwback Anyday. The socialization and fun will more than offset the sugar and deli meat and on net it will improve your health overall. You’ll wake up 10 years younger. Scout’s Honor.

We bought two for our family and loved them so much we want to order two more! So easy to use - a success on the first try. High quality, durable, and love that they are made locally. We had no problems with the food coming right off the cast iron, we followed the directions and used butter, and our mountain pie pizzas came out great! Highly recommend, we've been telling all our friends about them.
