Cast Iron Sandwich Toaster

I am SO glad these don’t come with those stupid little hooks on them to keep the iron closed. The irons don’t have an issue staying closed and those hooks on other brands are super annoying and end up running down the stick to the hottest part of the iron then it is too hot to touch and too awkward to use oven mitts.
Thank you for not putting hooks on them!!

These are THE best pie irons anywhere! They crimp the edges so the filling doesn’t leak out, and the hinges don’t come apart. A super nice feature.
I still have the one we used camping when I was a child 50+ yrs ago, it has a rounded red handle.
I would definitely get cast iron over aluminum .
I also wish I had a double one.
Don’t buy any other brands. Once you use this, you’ll see the difference!

Beautiful cast iron pie irons! I did my digging before I bought them because I am a big fan of American produced cast iron, and I’m glad to have found these so close to home while supporting a local business to boot!
They seasoned up beautifully with grape seed oil (I recommend three light coats at least, a gas stove on low/medium heat works well to season these).
My family and I just spent four fabulous days camping in the souther tier, cooking everything under the sun from hash brown & egg scrambles, pizza pockets, panini’s, fruit pies and more. Phyllo dough, crescent roll sheets, and lard pie crust work amazing in these over a bed of hot coals. I do recommend placing them on a grate over the fire as they can get a tad heavy to hold after a while, especially for little hands. Just remember to oil the iron up good with grape seed oil prior to adding ingredients, and everything should slide right on out when cooked.
